Each month, more than 200 people volunteer their time to sort, package, and prepare medical supplies and equipment for shipment to the medical missions we serve. In Fiscal Year 2015, our team of volunteers achieved many noteworthy milestones:
There are a variety of volunteer opportunities available for individuals and groups of all skill levels at our warehouse located at 4930 LaVerna Road, Springfield, Illinois 62707. Although a medical background is beneficial, the majority of our Mission Outreach volunteers have little to no medical training. If you do possess special skills and training, please inform the Volunteer Associate prior to your experience.
1st Sort & 2nd Sort:
Supplies are first sorted by broad medical categories, and are also counted and packaged. During the second sort, categories are further narrowed down into greater detail. For example, a general category such as gloves, is divided into latex and latex-free. Both jobs require lifting boxes of up to 25 pounds.
A critically needed volunteer position, this job requires basic computer skills, attention to detail and lifting boxes up to 25 pounds.
Volunteers help prepare shipments and containers on an as needed basis.
• Assisting drivers with equipment pick-ups
• Testing and repairing medical equipment
• Assisting with fund-raising and event planning
• Some sit-down jobs are available. Please contact the Volunteer Coordinator in advance for more information.
